5-year-old passed away after accidently chocking by family dog

A five-year-old boy in Pennsylvania has passed away after; he was choked, when the family dog pulled on his scarf too tightly around his neck as they played in the snow.

The Philadelphia coroner's officers were called to the 1900 block of Palomino Drive at around 4:23 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a young boy lying face down in the snow, unresponsive.

Police said that at the time of the tragedy incident, the child’s parents and sister were inside the home, when his mother looked out of a window of her Warrington home and found her son lying on the ground, unconscious, with the family dog tugging at the boy’s scarf.

EMS arrived on the scene, after the boy’s mother had untied his scarf, which had been tight around his neck.

Police said that first responders performed CPR on the boy and then transported him to Doylestown Hospital.

The boy was later moved to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he went through heavy sedation for the next several days before he stopped breathing on Saturday, according to his family.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay medical bills. The page says that John’s smile was electric and he loved “Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, superheros and being silly”.
