Story

Rathnam (Vishal) is a very close confidant of Pana Swamy (Samuthirakani) and supports him in every way. One fine day he falls in love with Mallika (Priya Bhavani Shankar) and goes in search of her. At some point, he learns that Marika's life is in danger. Rathnam then decides to save Mallika at any cost and has a legitimate motive behind him trying to save her. What is his motive and how he saves her is the basic story of this movie.

Analysis

Rathnam Movie Review, Rating, Story, Cast and Crew

Hari is the type of director who doesn't offer anything new. All of his stories have a clichéd plot, but his fast-paced narration makes a big difference. But unfortunately, everything gets out of control for Rathnam in this movie. The story is slow and boring and it feels like you are watching the movie forever. This is the case with Rathnam. Vishal tries his best to keep us interested, but the boring story holds him back most of the time. Also, the entertainment factor, which has been decent in previous Hari films, is a failure in Rathnam. This movie doesn't have a single episode that stands out. The movie moves slowly.

The slow pace of the movie is also a drawback. The second half is so action-packed that it doesn't feel like it needs that much action. One of the biggest drawbacks is the lack of basic emotions. What is shown has little effect. The gang and the way they move in and out of the story seem forced. The character of the heroine Priya Bhavani Shankar and her past are not properly organized. But her motives and Vishal's way of trying to make her look good in the story go completely haywire in Execution. In the end, Rathnam is an over-the-top action drama that fails to generate excitement and ends up being another crappy film.

Performance

Vishal is a sincere actor and plays his roles with sincerity. He does well in Rathnam as well and is great in all the action sequences. However, his performance in some conflict scenes seems a bit overdone, as the story is very sparse. Priya Bhavani Shankar is perfect for her role and does everything the film requires. Samuthirakuni plays her role well and doesn't add much to her story. The rest of the characters are okay.

Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for this film but his work is mediocre. Although he tried hard to improve all the action sequences, his background music for most scenes seems a bit loud and outdated. The camerawork is impressive, and the action scenes, especially the long ones, are beautifully shot. The Telugu dubbing is decent and nothing special. The editing is even worse as the action sequences are dragged out for no reason. The rest of the plot is pretty normal.

Final Word

Vishal's Rathnam is one more outdated film from the actor and Hari fails to keep it engaging.
